The main entrance gate is now open for the summer months. Gate does close on Monday, at 4:00pm, to vehicle traffic.
Gunny and I went for a walk in the park today. No bare spots on the main road but not much snow either. I did see classic and skate skiing tracks but I am not sure how recently they were made. Lots of footprints on the main road, I also seen two other folks walking the main road today. The good news is that we are currently under a Winter Storm Watch, so, I am hopeful Forest Park will have a healthier amount of snow very soon.
I paid a visit to the park today. The main road is pretty much ice, I walked mostly on the side of the road, where I thought I would get better traction. The park is pretty wet and the snow is melting. I took one trail and there was a bare patch. I think we will have to wait until we receive more snow to do any cross country skiing. Not even sure if those that snowshoe would find the conditions favorable.
I did enjoy the fresh air and lack of noise along with seeing white tail deer, a black squirrel and Mallard ducks. I took Gunny with me today, our family dog, and he had a great time. He attempted to run on some of the ice and went for a skate instead. The look on his face was priceless and made me chuckle. Looking forward to more snow. SNOW SNOW SNOW!!! |

I moved to the village of Camden when I was in 3rd grade. One of the first discoveries I made in my new community, was Forest Park. As a child, I spent many hours at Forest Park, riding my bike, hanging out with friends, swimming, exploring the numerous trails and cross country skiing. Archives
